• 2018 – Tinto Moderno

Red field blend of five wonderful Portuguese varieties.

    General Info:

Tinto Moderno is our take on a blend of several classic Portuguese varieties native to the Douro River Valley. The field blend includes a proprietary mixture of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Alvarelhão, Tinta Roriz, and Souzao. The blend is Touriga Nacional forward, and all of the grapes come from the Alta Mesa AVA in the Lodi area.

    Technical Info:

    • Brix at Harvest: 22.4
    • pH: 4.17
    • TA: 6.75 g/L
    • Elevage Program: This wine was aged for 20 months in neutral oak barrels
    • Cases Produced: 121 cases

    Tasting Notes:

With the combination of all of these unique varieties, aromas of blueberries predominate as they are intermingled with raspberries and cherries; a sprinkling of violets and vanilla uplift the other aromas and add complexity. The wine has a gently soft palate like many California Pinot Noirs, and clean acidity.

    Food Pairings:

This wine pairs very deftly with pan seared or grilled salmon, pork tenderloin with brown butter and sage, coq au vin, and even grilled Portobello mushrooms with herbed butter.

  • 2019 – Tannat

    A wonderfully unique red
    with a great fruit palate.

    General Info:

In the southwest region of France where Tannat originates, the wines from this variety are very dense and highly structured. They can survive years in a cellar, and most will admit that they need years before they are drinkable. Ours is a bit different with less tannin making it much more approachable and enjoyable right now.

    Technical Info:

    • Blend:  100% Tannat
    • Harvest Date:  September 2019
    • Aging Regime:  22 Months in neutral oak
    • Cases Produced:  169 total (750ml) cases
    • Awards:  Silver – Orange County / Silver – Sommeliers Choice

    Tasting Notes:

Shy at first, the wine opens up after a few minutes ready to unveil its secrets with a purity of bright, tart cherry aromas delicately coated in a veil of cocoa. With the aromas having beckoned a sip, the palate unfolds with more cherries, and a touch of oak spice, and a plum or two. The acidity is more than welcomed in its purity, and the moderate tannins can’t help but compliment. The clean finish begs for this wine to accompany a meal.

    Food Pairings:

This wine creates a very memorable occasion with your favorite grilled steak, braised short ribs over a bed of polenta, leg of lamb, venison, and all types of barbeque.

  • 2019 – Verdelho

    A refreshing, crisp
    white wine.

    General Info:

Verdello in Spanish; this variety has traveled the world from Portugal’s Canary Islands. It finds it’s way into wonderful crisp, light table wines to the famed sweet Madeiras from the Canary Islands. Our offering is similar to a Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc – full of flavor with a crisp finish. Ours is a 100% Verdelho sourced out of our grower’s vineyards in the Alta Mesa AVA in the Lodi area.

    Technical Info:

    • Brix at Harvest:  22.1
    • pH:  3.67
    • TA: 6.60 g/L
    • Elevage Program: This wine was aged for 6 months in neutral oak barrels
    • Cases Produced: 189 total (750 mL) cases

    Tasting Notes:

Due to the oak aging for this wine, the aromas are more subtle, yet just as inviting as if it were made in stainless. Aromas of tropical fruits like papayas, oranges, and passionfruit emerge followed by a full and plush palate with clean acidity. The finish is remarkably long and keeps inviting you for another taste.

    Food Pairings:

This wine is a great companion for halibut, shellfish, and calamari as well as grilled chicken breast over a bed of roasted potatoes and even seared pork chops. This wine accompanies Far East cuisine effortlessly in being a great “supporting cast member” to any Japanese, Indian, Thai, or Vietnamese meal.

  • 2021 – O Tempo Voa

Brite and aromatic Rose with a seriously deep color and rich palette.

    General Info:

Our Rose pays homage to the small region of Tavel within the Rhone Valley of France. Here they craft full bodied roses worthy of aging but can be enjoyed young as well. This rose is the result of skin contact and then a direct pressing of the must. With the complexity that we achieved in our Tinto Moderno, we seized the opportunity to use those same varieties in this wine. Enjoy now or wait for the complexity to emerge as it ages

    Technical Info:

    • Brix at Harvest:  23
    • Blend:  Field blend of five (5) Portuguese grapes ( Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Souzao, & Alvarelhao
    • Release Date:  July 2022
    • Aging Regime:  6 Months in neutral oak
    • Cases Produced:  194 total (750ml) cases

    Tasting Notes:

A subtle touch of oak uplifts the strawberry, pomegranate, and vinous aromas of this full-bodied rosé. The weight of the palate is complemented by the wine’s dryness and moderate acidity. The finish lingers as the subtleties arise as they marry with the prominent elements of the nose and palate.

    Food Pairings:

As a more full-bodied rose, our wine complements aged cheeses and all sort of charcuterie, pan seared salmon, rotisserie chicken, and grilled pork chops with potato gratin..
